2012 Read-a-Book Ball: Stay Home and Join Us!

It’s time for Fishtrap’s third annual Stay Home and Read a Book Ball! This fun event provides a great excuse to stay home in your PJ's, curl up with a good book and support your favorite literary non-profit. Try out a new author, pick a best-seller, choose a classic or re-read an old favorite, and tell us about it! Post a comment here or on our Facebook page. Check in regularly to see what others are reading – you might be inspired. Then, think about what you’d spend on an evening out: dinner, drinks, coffee and desert, a movie, gas, a new outfit, babysitter. Total that up, and click the button on the right to make your tax-deductible donation. No heels, no stockings, no ties, no crowds. You save time and energy, while enjoying a quiet evening at home, and your support allows Fishtrap to continue providing creative programs to nourish the literary community. It’s the best event you WON’T attend!

Not sure what to read? We are celebrating 25 years of Summer Fishtrap this July. Consider choosing a book written by keynote speaker David James Duncan or one of our talented workshop faculty. Here are some ideas:

The Brothers K, David James Duncan

A Pocket History of Sex in the Twentieth Century, Jane Vandenburgh

Damage, Kim Stafford

Where the Crooked River Rises, Ellen Waterston

Cowboy Poetry, a Gathering, Hal Cannon

The Late Interiors: A Life Under Construction, Marjorie Sandor

The Hummingbird’s Daughter, Luis Alberto Urrea

A Radiant Curve, Luci Tapahonso

Hotel on the Corner of the Bitter and Sweet, Jamie Ford
